Main Info
Thimpu-Paro
An overview of the tour to Thimpu-Paro, Bhutan, is to be provided. Among the notable sites to be visited is Punakha
Dzong, often referred to as Pungthang Dewachen Phodrang, meaning the Palace of Great Happiness. This Dzong,
considered the most beautiful and magnificent in Bhutan, is to be admired as the second largest and oldest in the
nation. The journey to Punakha is undertaken by traveling three hours east of Thimpu, the capital. The first glimpse
of the location, after a mountain pass is traversed, is experienced from the road as a magnificent and mesmerizing
sight. The Dzong is situated between the male Pho Chu and the female Mo Chu rivers, where a noticeable contrast in
water colors can be observed. Punakha Dzong is connected to the mainland by an arched wooden bridge, and inside,
several priceless artifacts from the eras when successive monarchs ruled the valley are housed.
